SHOW SEASON
Welcome 2008!!!! While 2007 was an incredibly successful year for everyone at Van Vleck Ranch, it was
not without it's tragedies. The barn suffered some personal blows in last year; however, things are
looking up and we seem to have come through most of it unscathed.
It seems as if we just finished showing at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center and now we are gearing
up for our trip to Thermal in less than four weeks. Our "winter off" was so busy that none of us really
look at it as time off so much as time to regroup. Following the Thanksgiving holiday, Van Vleck Ranch
hosted a three day Benson Carroll day clinic for our group only. The following week we had a fabulous
Christmas party at Linda Freeman's (long time Van Vleck Ranch customer) beautiful home in Granite Bay.
Both the clinic and the party were huge successes, and it was great to get all of the customers together
in one place for a couple weeks in a row.
A little time off for everyone was followed by Christmas and New Years and here we go again!
A few congratulations are in order from 2007. While we could not begin to recount the successes of
each individual at the Van Vleck Ranch, we do feel the need to congratulate Katie Harris and Billy Orange
on making the North American Young Riders team as well as helping to secure the individual gold medal
at the Young Riders Championships in Lexington, Virginia last August. This was huge as Katie had never
jumped in the high junior jumpers prior to 2007 and bought Billy in March. While the road to that success
was often bumpy, the end result was all that we could have wished for.
